THE ELMATRA PROJECT, INITIALLY, WILL BE EAST TO WEST & WEST TO EAST UTILIZING I-10 – I-80 AND 1-90. LETTERS FROM CONGRESSMAN BOB SIKES & U.S. SENATOR LAWTON CHILES ENDORSED THE PROJECT IN 1977. IN 2002 ELMATRA WAS ENDORSED BY DR. BRYANT MATHER, DIRECTOR, EMERITUS. CHIEF, STRUCTURES LABORATORY, US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS.

TO IMPLEMENT THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SYSTEM TO TRANSPORT PASSENGERS NATIONWIDE, EVENTUALLY CANADA, THEREBY ENHANCING THE ENVIRONMENT, ECONOMICS, EMPLOYMENT, TRANSPORTATION, SOCIAL SECURITY, ACADEMIA, MAIL TRANSPORT, SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNTS OF GASOLINE & OIL SAVED. THE CONSTRUCTION AND ONGOING MAINTENANCE BRING MUCH NEEDED EMPLOYMENT (ALL TRADES) AND MARKETING OF GOODS FOR THE EXPEDITION OF THE ELMATRA SYSTEM, EAST AND WEST, NORTH AND SOUTH.

SINCE THE UNITED STATES IS FACING THE CONTINUING LOSS OF NATIONAL AIR & GROUND TRANSPORTATION, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT A CRASH PROGRAM OF THE MOST IMPOSING MAGNITUDE BE PUT INTO OPERATION ON A NATIONAL SCALE, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! EACH STATE MAY CONSTRUCT EACH SECTION OF THE GROUND & ELEVATED MASS TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM (ELMATRA) WITHIN ITS’ BOUNDRIES AND WORK WITH ADJOINING STATES WHEN NECESSARY. THE FUNDING FOR THE PROJECT WOULD NOT RELY ON THE STATES ALONE, FEDERAL AND PRIVATE SECTOR FUNDING (VIA BONDS) IS AVAILABLE.

AS IN 1991, PRESIDENT H.W. BUSH, SIGNED INTO LAW THE INTER-MODAL SURFACE TRANSPORTATION EFFICIENCY ACT OF 1991 (ISTEA), A $151 BILLION PLUS. AS IN 2005 PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH SIGNED H.R. 3, PROVIDING A FUNDING LEVEL OF $286.45 BILLION FOR FEDERAL HIGHWAYS AND TRANSIT PROGRAMS, TOTALING $437.45 BILLION. FUNDING SHOULD ALSO BE MADE AVAILABLE FOR THE ELMATRA PROJECT, SINCE THE RETURN ON INVESTMENT IS JUSTIFIED BY THE REVENUES FORTH COMING (REASONABLE FARES), AND, ISSUANCE OF BONDS GIVES ALL AMERICANS A CHANCE TO PARTICIPATE.

THERE ARE 15 CABINET DEPARTMENTS, NINE OF WHICH CONTROL VARIOUS ASPECTS OF THE U.S. ECONOMY, INCLUDING TRANSPORTATION. AS IN THE HOOVER DAM PROJECT AND THE UNITED STATES INTERSTATE HIGHWAY PROJECTS WERE FUNDED, IN A SIMILAR FUNDING, A GROUND & ELEVATED MASS TRANSPORTATION PROJECT (ELMATRA) WOULD BE AN IMMEDIATE START UP, BRINGING THE AFOREMENTIONED BENEFITS AND A RETURN ON THE INVESTMENT (REASONABLE FARES). FURTHER, FUNDING VIA BONDS, A CONCERTED EFFORT BY ALL CONCERNED, WOULD BRING THE PROJECT TO EARLY FRUITION, LESS THE STIGMA OF PORK BARRELS.

Administration ignores solutions to problems

While the freshmen in Congress have been dealing with the nation’s problems in a concerned and professional manner, it appears the president and his administration are still in the “on the job training” mode. This administration is no different than many previous administrations, tinhorn Democratic and Republican ones that deprive citizens of rights, security, liberty and freedom.

I have sent them viable solutions to many of our problems and received a disgusting response, in writing, from the White House’s F. Michael Kelleher, director of presidential correspondence, and David Axelrod, senior adviser to the president. Mr. Kelleher never once mentions the information I sent. Instead, he wrote of Americans’ concern regarding the economy. Mr. Axelrod jumped right into the “health insurance reform.”

Why are all of our jobs going offshore when so many are out of work here? My company offered a solution that not only would bring jobs to all trades, it would also enhance Social Security, academia, transportation, the Postal Service and save substantial amounts of gasoline and oil. The construction and ongoing maintenance bring much-needed employment and marketing of goods, with a return on the investment.

The destruction of the economy in the past and ongoing irresponsible acts taken by past and present administrations and Congresses are a disgrace to the United States, especially those in government given the responsibility.

As Ludwig von Mises wrote, “everyone carries a part of society on his shoulder.” Presidents, members of Congress, news media, lobbyists and big money are no exception. What a shame when the 30 pieces of silver reign again. It all started to fail when small farmers were made to fail.
